Science has recently found that -- just like singing itself -- practicing gratitude has a host of mental and physical benefits. It reduces feelings of stress and loneliness, and increases resilience. According to Berkeley researcher Robert Emmons, it's because thankfulness is a social emotion. It affirms the goodness in the world, while recognizing that it comes from outside ourselves. We would not be the choir we are today without the ongoing support we receive from our audiences and community. Our dedicated Friends welcome you to every concert and often host our afterglow reception. Special gifts and grants have allowed us to establish a scholarship program and produce two recordings this decade. And donors to our general fund continually supply the resources we need to present beautiful concerts, season after season -- fifty-seven to date. It's time for us to say thanks, the best way we know how -- in song! Join us for our spring concerts, entitled A SONG FOR YOU. The concert will feature music donated through the "sponsor a song" program we established in the wake of the 2014 flood that devastated our music library. These songs were lovingly selected for a variety of reasons -- as part of a long and cherished tradition; for the individuals they celebrate, or memorialize; or simply because they are great works of inherent joy, beauty, or meaning. We'll surely be singing these beloved pieces with heart! Announcing: Cantata's 2019 EUROTOUR! Cantata Academy Chorale has a long history of touring to Europe, and we're thrilled to resume the tradition next summer. We will be visiting Munich, Prague, and Salzburg and singing four concerts. In our free time, we'll be enjoying castle tours and biergartens. We are especially thankful to have this trip organized for us by our very own Cantata alumna, Deanna Doubler-McLeod of Archway Travel, who has participated in our past EuroTours. This is a very unique, intimate touring opportunity; we will be performing our own programs as Cantata Academy Chorale, not as part of a mass choir. The deadline for singer sign-up is March 15. Cantata alumni and prospective singers: we'd love to have you join us, but we need your reply quickly!
