Heart & Hands

Friends of Cantata are family and friends of the choir who support the choir by handing out programs, collecting tickets, and generally helping out at our concerts.  Read below to find out how you can become a Friend.

Annual Appeal

Dear Friends and Supporters of Cantata Academy Chorale,

With greatest pleasure I can announce that Cantata Academy Chorale (CAC) is back to the business of joyfully making music.  We are back in our rehearsal venue - vaccinated, masked, and socially distancing.  What a joy it is to see each other and to feel the kinship that singing brings!  To those of you that continued to support us last year, we thank you.  Your contributions kept us afloat.

This year is a big one - our sixtieth anniversary!  Our anniversary concert on May 1, 2022 will feature our commissioned piece of music, "This Day" by internationally known composer, Stacey Gibbs.  We will also be presenting to holiday concerts in December.  For the safety of our patrons and performers, all guests must provide proof of full vaccination for COVID-19 or proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours of the performance start time.  All individuals must also wear a mask regardless of vaccination status.

Sixty-five percent of our operating budget comes from generous donors like you.  Your donations will make Cantata Academy Chorale and our performances possible for everyone - for the singers who create the music, and for our audiences who will enjoy the beauty and magic of our performances.  In keeping with the number sixty, I've created a "Sixty for the Sixtieth" campaign.  Please consider a donation of $60, $120, $180, or any donation amount divisible by sixty.

Please consider becoming a donor at one of the following various levels.

Applause $0-$99
Encore $100-$249
Bravo $250-$499
Bravissimo $500-$999
Standing Ovation $1000 and above

YOU can help us fulfill our musical mission by making a meaningful contribution, which is fully tax-deductible.  All donor names will be recognized in our concert programs for the entire 2021-2022 concert season. We have many ways you can help with our endeavors.

As President and a long time singer, my dream is that Cantata Academy Chorale will continue to present quality choral music and live performances for years to come. Enthusiastic supporters like YOU will ensure that CAC continues to make a joyful sound.

Sincerely,
Maggie Reese
President, Cantata Academy Chorale Board of Directors

Sponsor a Song

Many of our former singers and audience members have asked if they can help rebuild Cantata's music library (which was lost by a flood in 2014, destroying 53 years worth of scores) by sponsoring the purchase of specific pieces of music.  The answer is YES!  Here's how:

(1) Select a favorite choral work from the list below, and note the replacement cost.  As a start, we've selected over 80 high-priority pieces that we hope to perform soon; the list will be updated periodically with new titles.  If you have in mind a piece not listed here, please contact cantata@cantataacademy.org to see if it fits our programming needs.

(2) Make a donation in the amount of the replacement cost -- two ways:

ONLINE: Click "Donate Now" below.  Be sure to enter the amount corresponding to the replacement cost of your selected work.  Identify the name and composer of your selected work in the "Special Instructions" box.

BY CHECK: First, call (313.242.7282) or e-mail (cantata@cantataacademy.org) us with the name and composer of your selected work to reserve it.  Then, mail a check to P.O. Box 1958, Royal Oak, MI 48068 for the corresponding replacement cost.  Please write the name and composer of the work in the memo line.

In recognition of your support, it is our intent that Cantata's music library be a community resource, available for lending to other nonprofit choirs.

Friends of Cantata

The Friends of Cantata is a group of friends, family, and supporters of the Chorale.  You may have noticed the Friends at one of our concerts—or maybe not!  They are at concerts greeting patrons, selling tickets, acting as ushers and cleaning crew, setting up the after-glows, and enjoying the beautiful music.  Because they handle the little jobs behind the scenes, our singers can focus on the music.

The Friends group is in need of additional volunteers.  You can volunteer to assist in just one concert or at several - that is up to you.  It’s very easy to become a Friend.  To help out, please contact Cantata at (313) 242-7282.

You may use the button above, or mail a check to Cantata Academy Chorale at P.O. Box 1958, Royal Oak, MI 48068. We are a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization. Your contributions are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law, and your donation will be accepted with our thanks and a donation receipt.
